IQ Signal Patterns tips

This article covers some tips on how to achieve the best signal strength between the IQ and locks.

1. The best coverage is in the +Z direction i.e. outwards from the IQ cover plate

2. The best coverage is in the -X direction i.e. outwards from the LED side

So in general, locks with line of sight towards the top of the IQ should have relatively decent range as well as locks directly in the direction of the LED.

Lock directly behind the LED will have some of the worst performance, as those that are on the bottom of the IQ i.e. behind the mounting plate, even if the IQ is placed in a false ceiling, and not on a wall etc.

Mounting IQs on walls is to be discouraged, unless it is done in very wide spaces, or unless all doors have LOS towards the LED or distances are small.

The preferred mounting would be on a ceiling, with LOS to locks and the faceplate pointing at the floor.
