The 802.11 standard indeed allows arbitrary characters (printable and non-printable) to be part of the SSID name. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the core Linux components we use to manage WiFi networking, WPA Supplicant, does not handle that in the expected way.
This is a string interpretation/display issue and does not have WiFi connectivity or stability implications based on our initial tests.
The team has logged a bug and will be fixing this with one of our scheduled releases, however, this has not yet been planned.
In the meantime, the proposed workarounds are:
1. Use only ASCII printable characters as part of the SSID
2. If non-ascii characters cannot be avoided, manually enter the SSID name when configuring IQ WiFi
2. If non-ascii characters cannot be avoided, manually enter the SSID name when configuring IQ WiFi
